Welcome to Hawthorn's Class Page!

The adults who work with the children in the class are Mrs. Lyons (class teacher), Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Mannering (teaching assistant).

Hawthorn have a great attitude to learning and show Peartree values across all areas of the curriculum. Have a look at what we have been learning! We hope you enjoy our page!

KN'eX Challenge!

Year Five have just kicked off their new topic: 'Tomorrow's World' by participating in  KN'eX Challenge. They used their imaginations and followed a set criteria to construct a futuristic model. After that, they presented their models to the class and answered questions.

COMING SOON!

Our Class Blog

Last term we studied the Second World War. We were lucky enough on history day, to welcome some visitors who were children in the War. We interviewed them and they shared their experiences with us. It was incredible!
In English, Year5 read Zelda Claw and the Great Rain Cat. After identifying features of a suspense tale, building a toolkit and innovating as a whole class, they started inventing their own suspense tales. Watch this space for their excellent stories.

Home Learning

Reading books are sent home daily. In class we check that the children have read at home and they complete quizzes on whatever books they have read.

Maths will be given out every Friday and should be handed in on the following Monday.

Topic is set every half term.  The topic home learning is to be completed weekly and handed in on  Monday.
