Our Music Leader is Debbie Phillips.
As the children progress through Peartree Primary School they have many opportunities to experience music through singing, composing, listening, performing and appraising. We have a range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments, which the children explore in whole class and small group lessons. Making recordings of the children’s compositions gives them the opportunity to comment on their own work and the work of others.
Peartree Primary School is becoming a singing school with plenty of opportunities for children to take part in singing, including singing assemblies and choir. A weekly whole school singing assembly gives regular opportunity for learning new songs. We also learn songs as part of performances such as the Nativity, the KS2 Carol Concert and new We Love Life concert. Music is integrated across the curriculum and taught in specific lessons. In Year 4 children learn to play the Hand bells, Year 3 learn to play various percussion instruments as part of a World Music project and in Year 6 they learn Djembe drumming.
